Introduction to my designer blog

Introduction
Hello there! I've started this blog to talk about my designs, how I create them, what things inspire me and so on! I will post pictures of the designs I release. I have been into arts for quite some time now. I have studied them also but most of my experience on that front comes from my artistic endeavors at home. At school my favorite classes were sculpting, painting and textile printing - and so we come to the core of this blog.

Slight vector graphics rant
I've started the pursuit to design graphics for shirts. I mostly use vector graphics (Macromedia Flash) because of their resizeability and simplicity. This program can also be used for terrific animation projects (newgrounds.com). Pictures on the computer are made of pixels that have the color data and are 'locked' in place. This means that when you zoom in to a bitmap you will see the pixels becoming bigger and bigger until the picture becomes grainy and blurred. When you zoom in to a vector you will get no grainy or blurred effect because vectors store the graphic data as a mathematical formula. This means that you can scale the image to whatever lengths you want and it will not get blurred. This makes editing vectors super easy because you can stretch and scale the vector limitlessly.

Although Flash is a very powerful tool it does have limitations. There are really no effects to put on your pictures. You can pretty much only adjust the shapes and colors. But ahaa - that is because it primarily used for animation. I use Flash mainly because I'm so familiar with it and haven't really gotten used to other vector programs (Illustrator). After I've done the line art I usually color it with Flash too but sometimes I use Photoshop to finish my graphic. Also Photoshop has so much options to adjust so it is preferable to finish your picture with it. More about the subject at wikipedia.com's site for vector graphics.

Onwards to other topics
So I've opened a online shop at zazzle.com. I'm currently trying out what kind of market my graphics would have and what kind of reception they receive. I opened the shop about four days ago and I've had over sixty visitors in that time and daily visitors are about 15-20 and rising I think. One thing that really cheered up my gallery activity was that one of my designs was on the 'Today's Best' list so that's really encouraging for me! But alas no sales yet. I believe in the thought "You keep making them and they will come".
